Scheme overview

When: April 2016 to March 2017
Status: In progress
Summary: Programme targeting roads in need of substantial treatment
Responsible for works: Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB)

About the project

TfB’s capital maintenance programme is in its sixth year after it was identified that substantial investment in Buckinghamshire’s roads was urgently required.

Since 2011 in excess of £75 million has been invested to improve, maintain, and prolong the life and condition of the Buckinghamshire road network and between April 2016 and March 2017 a further £12 million will be invested on the road network. The work identified to take place in 2016/17 forms part of a 4 year rolling programme with an additional £30 million to be invested on the road network between April 2017 and March 2020.

Roads chosen for treatment in 2016/17 are a combination of local roads chosen by local elected Members, under the guidance of Transport for Buckinghamshire and strategic roads shown by road condition survey data to require priority treatment. Each scheme will be treated following analysis of specific condition, ensuring that the right treatment options are targeted in the right locations.

In excess of 200 separate schemes will be undertaken in 2016/17 and work has already commenced. Notifications will be given to affected residents and businesses affected by any specific scheme in advance of works taking place. Please access the file below for a full list of carriageway surfacing schemes confirmed for treatment this year.

Roads are given different treatments, dependent on their requirements. See ‘Road Surface Choices Guide’ on the left hand menu for details.
